Drought Communications Workshop

Drought Communications Resources

This list of resources was provided by the Drought Communications Workshop speakers to support the participants in developing their own drought communications plans.

Drought Communications Network

Building a Drought Communications Network will help you align different groups as conditions evolve. If possible, growing and connecting your network should happen before drought conditions happen and be updated regularly. But it’s never too late to get started.

The list below is not exhaustive but can serve as a starting point for identifying potential audiences, stakeholders, partners, and influencers to consider in your communications planning. Local governments and water providers should also be considered.

Guiding Questions

  • Does this group share a water source with us?
  • Would this group feel drought impacts earlier or later than us?
  • Do residents, businesses, community groups and other organizations look to a particular group for guidance or reassurance?
